Brazil join the allies

Few people know, but Brazil sent 25 thousand of their Brancaleone Army troops to Europe and some 50 fighter pilots in World War II. This is an endless (and somewhat boring for non war-nerdish people) subject to discuss and, from time to time, we’ll be publishing some stuff under the World War II tag. Enjoy bellow the video of a movie from the USA State Department teaching 1940’s Americans who the heck was to join them in the War effort. This video is so bizarre even for us Brazilians, depicting an almost totally rural country with an unbelievable gullibility of manners, it worth 10 minutes of your life to watch. At least they did their duties well (in fact, in some campaigns, Brazilian soldiers exceeded by far the expectations) and now we can mock our Argentinian neighbors about their chickenshitness in the conflict.

By the way, in Portuguese, Brazil is a male word. It’s somewhat strange to hear “she” referring to the country.

Even Jesus is authoritarian in Brazil

This tomb was made in 1941, when it wasn’t clear who would win the World War II, if the Axis or the Allies and, if it was the Allies who won, who knows if the commies overcome the liberal democracies? So, to don’t be fooled by the events, this family provided their patriarch a half-communist, half-capitalist tomb for his beloved and recently deceased dad. Jesus, floating above the scene, makes a third Reich heil just in case. This tomb is on Sao Paulo’s Municipal Cemetery.

Yes, ideology is not something Brazilians care about. Click on the pics to a larger view.
