For some strange and unknown reason, Valentines Day in Brazil is June 12th. This video shows a reporter from Jornal Nacional talking about the holiday in a shopping mall in Rio. Jornal Nacional (something like ‘National News’) is the most important and viewed TV news program nationwide, with more than 50 million viewers each day. That’s why this guys behaved like ‘tards*. This is a beautiful TV spot made for National Geographic by Borghierh/LoweBrasil.
An approximate translation:
The moon and the Star.
The Moon and the Star show up when the Sun leave the town.
In the night, they’re buddies.
One day I’ve saw on the TV
That the Moon declared war on the Star
They were so beautiful when they were shining together
Why they fight each other?
I think this is a lie!
(when the scenery changes)

Lasier Martins is a TV anchor to a Porto Alegre broadcaster. Porto Alegre is a small micro village in southern Brazil and a place much like Seattle, in which people think their hometown is the best place on earth and so on (quoting an old column of John Dvorak). It shares even the bad climate (the worst winters in Brazil are there) and the bad reputation for their people as Seattle does in the US. Eventually it’s also my hometown.
But Lasier Martins got famous and a meme in Brazil because of the following video where in a live interview in a wine producer region near Porto Alegre he got actually K.O. by surprise. Watch the video to see how.
Some guys organized this flash mob in Sao Paulo (man, I love this town), in 2004. They repeat the event every year since then. This one was set up in Avenida Paulista and environs, the Brazilian version of Wall Street, NY. The red columns building is Museu de Artes de Sao Paulo, known as MASP - Sao Paulo Arts Museum, which abbreviation in English spells SPAM (!).
Niagara Fools is an old Woody Woodpecker cartoon episode and this episode in particular has become very popular in Brazil, god only knows why (maybe because it’s fun as hell? March! heh).
The footage and edition were made by Fabio Yamaggio and the flash mob organized by Ana Paula.
The Brazilian version of Simple Life sent two ‘model and actresses’ (Ticiane Pinheiro and Karina Bacchi ) to a farm in Sao Paulo state. As you can see bellow, the two beauties didn’t love that much the idea of stripping and cleaning the fish they just caught. It will be broadcast soon on TV Record, Brazilian second large TV network.
