Jacare Banguela

Jacare Banguela's logo

Jacare Banguela (.br) means literally the “Toothless Alligator”. It’s the most successful humor blog in Brazil and a powerful source of Internet memes. The most successful meme, indeed, is the one which spreads Jacare’s trademark: Any sign that mimes an alligator spread mouth (made with hands, legs, etc) eating something. Another successful meme is the “Drunken of the Week Award”, also featured above. I’ve collected some of the most creative from Brazilians all over the world to you:

A secretary or a miracle?

Your Holiness, I have forgotten asking you a little favour.

The case is: I need desperately a secretary. Could be a modest one, like your secretary, Monsignor Georg Gaenswein, for example. Would you mind recommend me to the Almight in your prayers?

I thank you on my knees.
Sincerely yours, Ira.

Monsignor Georg Gaenswein, Pope’ secretary

Brazilians prefer Pope to Cicarelli

We, Brazilians have changed the advertising of Daniela Cicarelli — she was in all her glory, as God has made her, I dare say — for the “welcome Pope banner”, at Consolacao Street. As you know, we Brazilians can’t stand people who has or uses little clothes…

Daniela Cicarelli

Before

Welcome Pope

After

Bem-vindo Papa Bento XVI = Welcome Pope Benedictus XVI

(Aren’t billboards suppose to be banned in Sao Paulo?)

Cowboy Brazilian Football Game

In this type of Cowboy Football (soccer) Game you can have three goal keepers… it is much more efficient, believe me. One above the cross bars, looking “where on hell is that d… ball” and two, inside the bars, ready to fight with paws and corns, I mean, heads “against that d… ball”!

Sorry, for a moment have arisen that d… hooligan who lives inside me…

Slow down. Flying is for planes.

I love this old flyer from Embraer*. You could put this flyer at the back of you car and let a clear message to the drivers, who think they are pilots and want to surpass you.
Calma. Voar é pra avião. = Slow down. Flying is for planes.

Calma. Voar é pra avião. Calm down. To fly is airplane business.

Skin color underpants

A stop motion video showing the story of a gal and her skin color underpants. Terrible skin color underpants.  :^)

507 Years Later

Once upon a time, 185,055 days ago a huge fleet boarded on Brazilian coast, where now it is Bahia state. Huge fleet by 16th century standards, of course, as the fleet was about mere 13 sail ships. The video bellow is an 50’s TV cartoon ad from Varig, the once proud Brazilian air company who filled bankruptcy last year. The ad shows Cabral, the admiral of the fleet who discovered Brazil and also shows how the Portuguese miss their homeland (there was an important minority of Portuguese migrants who fled Salazar’s dictatorship in the 50’s).

See in the map where is Bahia. For comparison, Sao Paulo is here and Rio de Janeiro here.

And some guy made this excellent and freaky video with images illustrating the national anthem. Well, I’m not properly the patriot type, but I liked the version (wait until the people start to sing before chose to close the video).

The minister on pot

Gilberto Gil is a musician (a reasonable one, for my taste) and a politician (a bad one, in the same criteria) and he was a heavy user of pot for a long while, as he stated in an interview a while ago. Now he’s the head of Culture Ministry, and responsible for a budget of 0.5% or so of the GDP. I don’t remember what the subject of this post was, but I remember that it had a video and, voilà, it’s bellow. If you can hmm, hmm, hmm, help me, please.
