Albert Eckhout (1610-1665) was a artist and botanic who accompanied John Maurice of Nassau, the governor of the Dutch possessions in Brazil, in 1637. He stayed at Brazil until 1644 where he painted indians, slaves and fruits – the fruits are very beautiful.
