Smoke Squadron - Esquadrilha da Fumaça

I am preparing a long post about my dear “Esquadrilha da Fumaça”, the Brazilian Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, it is not ready yet… so take a look at those old pictures, long ago, in Sao Jose do Rio Preto (I am not sure about the place…) only to say hellooo to Rico.

507 Years Later

Once upon a time, 185,055 days ago a huge fleet boarded on Brazilian coast, where now it is Bahia state. Huge fleet by 16th century standards, of course, as the fleet was about mere 13 sail ships. The video bellow is an 50’s TV cartoon ad from Varig, the once proud Brazilian air company who filled bankruptcy last year. The ad shows Cabral, the admiral of the fleet who discovered Brazil and also shows how the Portuguese miss their homeland (there was an important minority of Portuguese migrants who fled Salazar’s dictatorship in the 50’s).

See in the map where is Bahia. For comparison, Sao Paulo is here and Rio de Janeiro here.

And some guy made this excellent and freaky video with images illustrating the national anthem. Well, I’m not properly the patriot type, but I liked the version (wait until the people start to sing before chose to close the video).

Police Raid in a Bus

Police raid in a bus in a suburban town close to Sao Paulo, some months ago (it was winter, as the clothes of the cops indicate). Two suspects caught, one with a gun. One of the two guys in the car says “Fast, you gonna lose the action”. They almost lost.
