Few people know, but Brazil sent 25 thousand of their Brancaleone Army troops to Europe and some 50 fighter pilots in World War II. This is an endless (and somewhat boring for non war-nerdish people) subject to discuss and, from time to time, we’ll be publishing some stuff under the World War II tag. Enjoy bellow the video of a movie from the USA State Department teaching 1940’s Americans who the heck was to join them in the War effort. This video is so bizarre even for us Brazilians, depicting an almost totally rural country with an unbelievable gullibility of manners, it worth 10 minutes of your life to watch. At least they did their duties well (in fact, in some campaigns, Brazilian soldiers exceeded by far the expectations) and now we can mock our Argentinian neighbors about their chickenshitness in the conflict.
By the way, in Portuguese, Brazil is a male word. It’s somewhat strange to hear “she” referring to the country.
As you can see, few people stopped to help the guy. This accident occurred in Florianopolis, state capital of Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil and the footage was made by the tunnel’s security camera.
This lizard visited this guy’s home in a regular basis. As nobody believed him, he and a friend set up a camera to prove their story. They’re from a small town on the southern state of Parana. “This f*%& camera don’t have zoom” one of them complains. But it wasn’t a problem. The lizard was so used to humans that it even let them touch him. A rare sight.
Sao Paulo have only 4 subway lines (Red, Green, Blue and Lilac) and a 5th - the Yellow line - is on the way. But in january 12 a disaster happened in an unfinished station. The concrete walls fell into an enormous hole that dragged everything nearby, even trucks and a small shuttle full of commuters.
On the video bellow, the moment when a truck falls into the hole. The 80 meters tall (some 240 feet) crane miraculously didn’t fell.
Seven people died on this disaster, one worker and 6 passengers from a shuttle which was passing nearby.
